This course builds on the recent experience of schools engaging with families during the period of COVID-19 when students undertook remote emergency learning. It offers tools to better understand the context of students' families, the varying success of modes of delivery and supporting families with student achievement and wellbeing going forward. It celebrates the learnings gained over this challenging time and addresses the challenges it raised.

This course is ideal for teachers who are looking for new ways to engage the parents at their school in their child's learning with a view to improving student outcomes. It is also ideal for teachers who are new to the school or who are looking for ways of building better relationships with the families of the children in their class. 

The benefit of this course which is interactive is that it relates to the school context of participants to customise the application to their setting.

This course gives participants the context, skills and processes to manage relationships with parents/carers which impact the learning outcomes for students. This online, interactive webinar covers:

• how to improve relationships with families
• generational differences and impact
• effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills
• how to manage emotions

This course is perfect for experienced and beginning teachers who wish to hone their skills to improve relationships with parents/carers and learn skills to manage the emotional responses of parents/carers as well as their own in a way that is solution-focussed rather than confrontational.  The ZOOM webinar is interactive and so can be customised to school context and teacher experience.
